Kenneth A. Beckman, MD, FACSDr. Beckman is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist. He was born in Columbus and graduated from Bexley High School. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from The Ohio State University. After an internship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Dr. Beckman completed an ophthalmology residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland, serving as chief resident in 1994-1995. He then completed a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Beckman has been practicing ophthalmology in Columbus since 1996 and joined Comprehensive Eye Care in July 2012 as Director of Corneal Services.
Dr. Beckman is a past president and past treasurer of the Columbus Ophthalmology and ENT society and a past member of the Board of Trustees for Prevent Blindness Ohio. Dr. Beckman is active in clinical ophthalmology research and has been involved in numerous clinical studies. He has published articles in ophthalmology journals and has presented his research at national meetings, such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He was recently involved in two FDA trials for the treatment of keratoconus and corneal ectasia using collagen cross-linking technology. Dr. Beckman is listed in Best Doctors, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, the Global Directory of Who’s Who and is listed as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by Consumers’ Research Council of America in cornea and cataract surgery.Dr. Beckman specializes in small-incision cataract surgery, cornea and external diseases, corneal transplant surgery including the new DSEK surgery, pterygium surgery, as well as glaucoma treatment and general ophthalmology. He has a special interest in the treatment of dry eye disease. Dry eye disease is one of the most common reasons for visits to eye physicians and can be very debilitating for patients. Dr. Beckman has extensive experience with treating this condition and is involved with many new protocols to manage dry eyes. |
George M. Chioran, OD, MD, FACSAn eye physician and surgeon, Dr. George Chioran is one of the few eye care providers in central Ohio to be trained in both ophthalmology and optometry. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a graduate of both the Ohio State University College of Optometry and the Indiana University College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency in Indianapolis where he was selected as the Chief Teaching Resident. During his training, he was honored with research fellowships from the American Medical Association and Fight For Sight and has published research articles on a wide range of topics, including optic nerve disease, color vision, and eye movement control.
As an educator, Dr. Chioran served on the faculty of the Indiana University College of Optometry, where he won several teaching awards from his students. He is currently on the clinical faculty of the Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology. Additionally, he had the foresight to recognize that laser vision correction would transform the way people would see the world. In 1995 he was one of the first physicians in Central Ohio to be trained in Laser Vision Correction and helped proctor other physicians in Ohio as they learned these techniques. In 1998 Dr. Chioran was honored with the Columbus Medical Association Public Service Award. He is listed in Best Doctors and Castle Connolly Top Doctors and is listed as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by Consumers’ Research Council of America. Steven H. Suh, MDDr. Steven Suh, a son of a pediatrician, grew up in Coshocton, Ohio. Majoring in zoology, he graduated with honors from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he was a member of the Landacre Research Honor Society. His interest in the field of ophthalmology began while in medical school when he participated in several ocular research studies at Columbus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Suh completed his internship with Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus and went on to complete his ophthalmology training at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, where he was chief resident. He has published eye and vision research articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology annual meetings. Dr. Suh and his family have joined Medical Ministry International on numerous eye care mission projects to Mexico to examine, treat, and perform surgery on patients. He is also listed in Best Doctors and as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by Consumers’ Research Council of America. Dr. Suh enjoys tennis and has run in the Columbus Marathon and the New York City Marathon. He has started a podcast called Healthy Eyes 101 to help educate patients about their eye conditions and their latest treatments.
